March Events CHICK ALERT The first eaglet has arrived! It hatched on Friday, February 26th. The second can’t be far behind. Check the Friends of Blackwater website at www.friendsofblackwater.org and go to Eagle Cam to follow the amazing progress of our resident couple and their offspring. Better yet, visit the refuge in person to see visiting winter waterfowl – ducks, snow geese, and more. March 13 is the always popular Eagle Festival with lectures, demonstrations, bird walks, and activities for the whole family. OYSTERS AND MORE Check out our wonderful downtown restaurants for fabulous oyster dishes while the “R” months are still with us. Canvasback Restaurant and Pub has a new pub menu with great bi-valve creations and Bistro Poplar is offering their version of our famous Choptank Sweets. Not to be outdone, Jimmie & Sooks Raw Bar also offers oysters on the half shell or fried. Not into oysters? Try some fabulous regional Italian fare at Bella Luna. Live rock, jazz and blue grass music is also featured at several of these establishments on weekend evenings. SHOPPING AND GALLERIES Our downtown stores are putting away winter wear and getting ready for spring. We’re all ready after this winter! On Second Saturday, shops will be open late with new spring merchandise and enticing sales. March 26th marks the date for our own March Madness – a fundraiser for Cambridge Mainstreet. The Mainstreet Gallery will feature “green” all month, and the Dorchester Center for the Arts will showcase the talent of its instructors and students at its annual Instructors and Students Show and Sale. Joie de Vivre Gallery will feature the oil paintings of local and well-known artist, Willie Schlossbach.
