July Events

Summer is in full swing here in Cambridge.  There are fabulous fireworks on the 4th – some of the best you’ll see anywhere, courtesy of the DuPonts, who, when they left Cambridge, also left a very nice endowment for fireworks.  The following weekend is Taste of Cambridge on July 12.  Coupled with Second Saturday, this Main Street Event attracts crab lovers from afar to sample the best crab dishes in Dorchester; restaurants compete for top honors for the best crab cake, soup,. dip, and specialty dish.  There’s music, Lego building for the kids, face painting, a crab picking contest, and a watermelon eating contest  -- just some of the evening events.  It’s a fun-filled night for the whole family.

For you power boat enthusiasts, the 97th Annual Cambridge Classic Powerboat Regatta will be held July 26 and 27.

Long Wharf Park is host to free Movies Under the Stars. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and savor the river breeze at this wonderful outdoor venue held each Saturday night in July.  Take a sail on the Nathan, Cambridge’s beautiful skipjack.  Stroll High Street with a colonial-costumed docent and learn of the rich history of our beautiful town.  Thursday afternoons you can sample Eastern Shore produce at our local farmers’ market in downtown Cambridge.

Remember, we’re just a tank away and home again to Washington, Baltimore, Philly, and Norfolk.   Come escape the urban traffic for a relaxing visit Eastern Shore style.  The local corn is in, so you can return home and extend your visit with a Shore souvenir of the luscious sweet stuff.
