September Events September is a glorious month to visit Cambridge and the Eastern Shore. There is lots going on besides beautiful weather. September 18 is set for the Summer Send Off Block Party and the running of the hilarious Main Street Mile. Join the fun at our Blues, Brew and BBQ event. The Volunteer Fire Company will be cooking a mighty mess of BBQ, and teams are forming for the sixth annual running of the Main Street Mile in which competitors done snorkels and swim fins for the “swim”, and ride tricycles for the bike portion of the event. Our first Grape Harvest Festival will be held on September 25th at Dorchester’s new winery, Layton’s Chance. Music, grape stomping, tractors, and more! On Sunday, September 26th, artists and craftsmen will line historic High Street to display their beautiful work during the annual Dorchester Showcase. This year’s artists will include some of the Eastern Shore’s finest painters, jewelers and potters. Food vendors will be on hand selling local specialties such as oyster fritters and Maryland beaten biscuits. Admission is free. Stroll the street and enjoy the bounty at this great juried show. Another first for Cambridge happens on the 25th. We will participate in the Chesapeake Film Festival. The Gallery 447 will host vintage films all day as part of this coordinated extravaganza of classics among the participating towns of Cambridge, Oxford, Easton and St. Michael’s. The Skipjack Nathan continues its weekend sails during September ,and theWalking Tours of Historic High Street continue on Saturday morning. They originate at Long Wharf. If your weekends are already filled, consider a mid-week visit. You won’t have to compete with the Ocean City beach goers and there is still plenty to do!GREAT GETAWAYS BEGIN HERE.
